The trend towards sharper graphics continues in basketball, both on the courts and uniforms as well. Latest example: St. John’s new togs.
The Johnnies have incorporated the New York skyline into the new unis and it mostly works. If it had been us, we’d have done something like incorporated the sun as a basketball and maybe found a font more reminiscent of the city or possibly alluding to the religous nature of the school.
Still, they’re not hideous, like the Nike-inflicted monstrosities which put NC or D on jerseys not too long ago. As we’ve seen lately, a lot of court redesigns are like when people were exuberantly discovering the Web and sticking every blinking thing possible on their pages. Restraint is usually better.
