Ohio State's star linebacker Ryan Shazier went down after attempting to tackle Cal tailback Brendan Bigelow on the far sideline during the second quarter of Ohio State's tilt with the Golden Bears. The Buckeyes LB lay facedown on the turf kicking his feed before being tended to by the team's trainers.
Through two games, Shazier had 12 tackles (10 of them solo) on the young season. Earlier in the first quarter of the contest against Cal, Shazier had forced his first fumble of the season and had recorded another tackle additionally.
According to the Dispatch's Tim May, the injury appears to be a right shoulder injury. Shazier walked off under his own power favoring that side of his body. It's likely he'll be taken to the locker room for further evaluation. His status remains unknown for the remainder of the Buckeyes' first road game of 2013 and true freshman linebacker Trey Johnson will likely have to step up in his absence.
