College football is just two weeks away (yay!), and there are more and more predictions coming out. The latest comes from PredictionMachine.com which has just recently simulated the entire college football season, 50,000 times.
These projected win loss totals are for the regular season, but they also have bowl projections which we will get to shortly. The website has Fresno State winning the league in the regular season with a 9.9 win total average to just 2.1 losses, and they are followed by Boise State at 9.5 wins and 2.5 losses.
Going by that logic, Fresno State would likely lose to a combination of Boise State, at San Diego State and Rutgers. As for Boise State, the loses to be considered are a combination of at Fresno State, at Washington, at BYU and at Utah State. A loss at San Diego State could be in the cards for Boise State, but the Utah State projects at less than seven wins, so that is why that game is not as highly considered.
The website is not keen on too many Mountain West schools being all that great after Fresno State and Boise State. Only four teams are assured of a bowl game, but Nevada and Wyoming are pegged at 5.9 wins, while Colorado State and Air Force are above five.
However, while Fresno State is projected to win the regular season, Boise State goes on to defeat Fresno State 24-20, and that means beating Fresno State on the road in early December.
Here are the win total projections:
There are also bowl projections as well:
Las Vegas Bowl:
Boise State 24, Washington 21, odd since this would be the fourth meeting in 12 months.
Armed Forces Bowl:
Fresno State 35, Navy 19
Famous Idaho Potato:
San Jose State 32, Ball State 25
New Mexico Bowl:
UCLA 45, Nevada 24
San Diego State 30, Ohio 21
Utah State 31, East Carolina 23
