Urban Meyer's Ohio State football team went into Week 1 with high expectations. Though the Bucks by and large seemed optimistic heading in to their Week 2 showdown with the Mountain West Conference's San Diego State Aztecs, the nation's sportswriters were decidedly less so.
Though the Bucks were second in the first AP Top 25 Poll of the season, Ohio State finds themselves in the #3 spot after one week of play. The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Doug Lesmerises dropped the Buckeyes to ninth following witnessing the OSU-UB game in person. The Dispatch's Bill Rabinowitz meanwhile joined the status quo in only penalizing the Buckeyes one spot after a mixed bag showing in their first game of 2013. The Buckeyes still maintained one first place vote in the poll.
Joining the Buckeyes are #17 Michigan, who stayed static despite a strong showing last weekend. Northwestern's win over Cal moved them up from 22nd to 19. Wisconsin's dominate win over UMass jumped them two spots as well, while Nebraska's dissapointing performance against Wyoming saw them fall four spots to #22.
