The SEC released the results of their 2013 preseason All-SEC teams for the upcoming season today and the results favor the Gators to an extent. The coaches voted for a total of seven Gators to either the first, second or third teams with the majority on second or third teams.
The lone Gator on any of the offensive teams was lineman Jon Halapio. His voting onto the second team was the result of a tie in the voting. But at least we've got at least one offensive lineman that the other coaches are aware of.
The rest of the All-SEC Gators are on defense or special teams. Dominique Easley and Loucheiz Purifoy both made first-team defense, while Marcus Roberson and Ronald Powell made second and third-teams respectively. Powell actually made the third-team list twice, once at defensive end and the other at linebacker.
Punter Kyle Christy was named to the first-team special teams unit in a move that shouldn't surprise anybody. He's probably the best punter in the country.
But speaking of surprises, when scanning the overall lists, there are a few that stand out. For one, quarterback Johnny Manziel isn't on the first-team as that spot was given to Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray. As for the rest of the lists, I'd say it's all pretty much fair. There really isn't all that much room for complaints.
