The Cincinnati Bearcats rolled up 670 yards of total offense against their FCS opponent of the year. The balance, and domination, were nearly total against the visitors from Louisiana. UC rolled up 347 yards passing and 323 yards rushing. 12 different receivers caught passes, five of them caught a touchdown. Four different rushers crossed the goalline. It was total domination.
But it was expected. Everyone knew before the game that UC would win, and that it would probably get ugly. That the starters played a couple of series in the second half could be counted as an upset. But they did which means....something? Maybe.
There are no real measuring sticks on the schedule for a while. Next up the Bearcats will face Don Treadwell and the Miami Redhawks. Miami is struggling mightily this year, and its actually kind of sad to see for me. I have/had more of a tie to Treadwell and Miami than most UC fans, and I don't like to see them in their current state. But on the face of it that is another game that could get ugly.
After Miami the Bearcats have a bye followed by USF, Temple and UConn, all of whom have already lost to FCS teams. Chances are the Bearcats could be bowl eligible by mid October and we could collectively know nothing about this team. Weird times.
