It’s back for the third year in a row!

Adventures on the Great Miami is pleased to host The Great Christmas Tree Bon Fire starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 6.

>> This is the ULTIMATE comfort food sandwich -- and you’ll only be able to eat it this month

New this year is Tube Fest, with all day tubing offered at the hill for just $5 and a menu of Southwestern food served all day long.

“We get a lot of families coming out and we wanted to plan a whole evening of fun for everyone,” said Chris Jackson, owner of Adventures on the Great Miami. “There will be lots of warm food along with live music happening around the fire into the night.”

>> JUST ANNOUNCED: Dress up like Elvis, eat for free at 3 local restaurants

Christmas trees can be dropped off on any day after Christmas from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Adventures on the Great Miami.

Admittance to the Christmas Tree Burn is free, and food and drinks will be available for purchase.

>> This longtime Oregon District business is being sold

“The least fun part of every holiday season is taking down the decorations and tree,” said Jackson. “Instead of letting this be a dreary surrender to the long cold months ahead, we came up with the Great Christmas Tree Bon Fire to gather families around this year’s tree one last time.”

>> These bars in the Oregon District and downtown Dayton are closed temporarily

The Great Christmas Tree Bon Fire’s festivities will start at 5 p.m. on January 6, with the bonfire at 7 p.m. More information can be found on the Facebook event page.

A Taste of Wine, 90 S. Main St., in Miamisburg, will pair wines with five different types of Girl Scout cookies during a special event 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, said Brandi Schneider, the shop’s social media manager and a sales associate.

Urmila Holloway, the shop’s owner, will lead the tasting, Schneider said.

Schneider saw the idea on Pinterest and told Holloway about it.

“I thought it was a fun and fantastic idea,” Holloway said. “This time of year is so ucky. It is nice to find something fun to do, especially with this awful weather.”

Schneider said Shortbread/Trefoils, Thin Mints, Savannah Smiles (lemon cookies),

Caramel deLites/Samoas and Do-si-dos /Peanut Butter Sandwich will each be paired with a different wine.

“We have a couple of whites. We have a couple of reds. We have a sweet wine,” she said.

The Do-si-dos will be paired with a jammy red to create a peanut butter and jelly effect, Schneider said.

There is space for about 30 tasters.
