7 amazing dinners and foodie events on New Year’s Eve 2018

It will be New Year’s Eve before you know it. 

Many Dayton-area restaurants are taking reservations to ring in 2018 right now, and we’re here to make sure you’re not left out in the cold.

✨ Mudlick Tap House: New Year’s Eve Brunch

Mudlick Tap House gets the party started with a New Year’s Eve “boozy brunch” that includes mimosas and the bar’s epic Bloody Mary Bar. 

The menu includes crab hash, sweet potato and kale curried hash, Mudlick Rancheros, crab hash, three egg frittata, Nog Cakes, The Morning After, Elvis’ French Toast and cured Salmon Benedict.

When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 31

✨ Mudlick Tap House: Ringing in the New Year Party

The tavern’s New Year’s party includes a prix fixe New Year’s Eve menu for $55 per person. 

First course includes choice of:

• Scallops - Pan-seared sea scallops on butternut squash puree and arugula finished with apple-bacon marmalade and sage oil 

• The Board - an array of three cured meats and two

artisanal cheeses 

Salad course includes choice of:

• Market Salad — field greens tossed in a creamy feta dressing with hard-boiled egg, sundried tomatoes and bacon 

• Tuscan Spinach Salad - field greens tossed in jalapeño honey vinaigrette topped with shaved pecorino, castelvetrano olives and marinated figs 

Main course includes choice of: 

• Prime Rib — roasted prime rib topped with a dollop horseradish cream. Served over a roasted root veg with arugula, blue cheese, pumpkin seeds and red wine balsamic vinaigrette 

• Grilled Swordfish — marinated grilled swordfish over a warm bacon, fingerling potato, and blistered tomato salad. 

Dessert includes choice of:

• Mud(lick) Pie 

• Chocolate Stout Brownie Crust filled with ANDES mint cream topped with brownie crumble and chocolate ganache. 

• House Made Peanut Butter Pie — rich and fluffy with a chocolate ganache on a graham cracker crust

✨ New Year’s on the French Riviera at Lily’s

Lily’s Bistro will celebrate the flavors of the French Riviera during its special New Year’s Eve dinner. 

The evening includes a champagne toast at midnight and wine and cocktail specials all night. A five-course prix fixe meal will be $59 per person, plus tip and tax.

First course (amuse bouche):

Breakfast radish with roasted garlic, black balsamic and orange zest 

Second course, choice of: 

• Braised pork shoulder and poblano pepper sopa verde 

• Beet-brined octopus ceviche with Kracken Rum marinated pear chips 

• Frissee salad with spiced nuts, feta, pomegranate seeds and citrus vinaigrette 

Third course, choice of: 

• "Gin And Tonic" Oysters on the half-shell with juniper berry, lime and smoked salt 

• Housemade rabbit terrine with carrot and fennel, whipped date butter and toast points 

• Rosemary ricotta bruschetta with persimmon, cayenne honey and roasted pistachios 

Fourth course, choice of:

• Sweet potato gnocchi with sun dried tomato velouté and brussel petals 

• Bouillabaisse of scallop, mussel, and cod with rouille and crostini 

• Cabernet-braised beef short rib with cauliflower puree and fried leeks 

Dessert, choose one: 

• Beignets with foie gras 

• Valrhona dark chocolate mousse with white chocolate peppermint bark

✨ American Czechoslovakian Club: New Year’s Eve Dinner & Dance

The evening features dinner, dancing and music from the Frank Moravcik Band. Dinner includes roast pork and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, a vegetable, salad, bread, desserts, beer, wine, soda and coffee.

Where: American Czechoslovokian Club, 922 Valley St, Dayton

When: Dinner from 7-8:30 p.m. Dec. 31. Dancing is from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.. Dec. 31-Jan. 1.

✨ El Meson’s New Year’s Eve Dinner 

The expansive menu includes favorite dishes from 2017 and chef specials:

  • Asado Grill — beef medallion, chorizo, chicken breast, and jumbo shrimp all served with a Colombian green onion aji sauce on a sizzling hot plate with choice of side item. $32 
  • Paella Valencia — Spanish rice dish with chicken, pork, chorizo, fish, shrimp, scallops, mussels and rice. $32

✨ New Year’s Eve at Salar (CANCELLED)

Salar Restaurant and Lounge will feature a special menu that includes Peruvian seafood rice, pork tomahawk, Tierra Y Mar (Surf and Turf) and grilled lobster tail.

When: The kitchen will be open 4-11 p.m. The restaurant’s bar will remain open after the New Year’s Eve countdown and beyond. The menu will be served all New Year’s weekend long.

The new restaurant owned by the couple behind Nibbles Catering will serve a delectable six-course meal.

Here’s the menu:

Chef’s Amuse Bouche

Raw Bar Trio: oyster on the half shell with pickled radish, cucumber mignonette, snow crab claw, citrus-vodka cured salmon

Tomato Tart Tatin: tomato confit, caramelized onion, puff pastry, melted mascarpone

Salad: roasted beet, grapefruit, frisee, tarragon mousse, maple vinaigrette

Entree (choice of one):

- Roasted Strip Loin: roated pepper-crustd center cut prime strip loin, with duchess potatoes, bordelaise sauce, duck fat-roasted carrots

- Scallop & Lobster: seared jumbo scallop and petite lobster tail with crawfish roe beurre blanc, parsnip puree, microgreens

Holiday Dessert Trio: bittersweet chocolate ganache torte with candied orange; sweet potato beignet rolled in cinnamon & sugar with salted caramel; brown butter ice cream with gingersnap crumbs
