Rapper Nelly accused of rape, arrested after show

Rapper Nelly Arrested after Being Accused of Rape

Rapper Nelly was arrested early Saturday after being accused of raping a woman following a concert, police said.

Scott Rosenblum, Nelly's attorney, vigorously denied the charges, telling The Associated Press that the rape claim is a "completely fabricated allegation." Rosenblum said in an email statement that the rape allegation was "motivated by greed and vindictiveness" and that he was confident the charge would be dismissed after an investigation.

Nelly, 42, is a three-time Grammy winner, including for the song "Hot in Herre," which won the best male rap solo performance award in 2002. Nelly is also known for the hits "My Place" and "Over and Over." He appeared in the 2005 film "The Longest Yard."

Lil Wayne is “doing fine,” said his daughter, Reginae Carter, who is assuring fans after reports surfaced that her dad was hospitalized over the weekend due to seizures.

He was taken to a hospital Sunday after suffering seizures in Chicago, TMZ reported. The rapper also known as Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. has been hospitalized before for the same reason in years past.

Here are Carter’s recent posts giving updates on her dad’s condition:

Carter is the daughter of Lil Wayne and his ex, Toya Wright. They teamed up for their daughter’s 16th birthday bash and the star-studded extravaganza was featured on MTV’s “Super Sweet 16” in February 2015.

“Her dad was like, ‘Give her whatever she wants,’” Wright said of her ex-husband during an interview at her boutique, Garb, in Smyrna, Georgia. “I’m big on budgets. We ended up pulling it off.”

“The most exciting part was getting my cars: I got a Ferrari and a BMW X4,” Carter told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution at the time. “That’s what I asked for but I didn’t know they were going to get it for me so that was surprising. I can’t really drive the Ferrari. I drive the Beemer a lot. That’s my every day car.”

The best gifts from her parents, though, are priceless.

“The best thing I inherited from my mother was the way she raised me to be humble and grounded,” she said. “With my father I’ll say his work ethic. I’ll go from singing to acting – I just like to do a lot of things. That’s what my father likes to do. It’s never enough.”

Ahead of her acceptance speech, Pink blew the audience away with a mash-up performance of her hit songs. The high-energy routine brought down the house, earning her a standing ovation.

Afterward, actress and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres presented Pink with the award. She said that Pink asked her to present her with the award because Cher was unavailable.

She praised Pink, a friend, as “the most incredible performer,” and said she was honored to have been asked to present the singer with the award.

“Then I realized it was the season finale of ‘Game of Thrones’ so I hope we are recording it,” DeGeneres said before listing Pink’s achievements, both in and out of the recording studio.

DeGeneres welcomed Pink onstage, where the singer promptly broke her Moon Person.

Pink started her speech by sharing a moment from her daughter Willow’s life. Her daughter recently told her that she felt like “the ugliest girl at school” because “she looked like a boy with long hair,” she said.

The singer told the audience that she explained to Willow that she has also been told she looks like a boy, but that hasn’t stopped her from selling out arenas and having amazing success.

“So, baby girl, we don’t change. We take the gravel in the shell and we make a pearl, and we help other people change so they can see all kinds of beauty,” Pink said before thanking fellow artists. “Keep shining for the rest of us to see. And, you, my darling little girl, are beautiful.”
