Louis C.K. Fast Facts

Five women have come forward in a New York Times story released Thursday afternoon to allege that comedian Louis C.K. acted inappropriately with them in the past.

Chicago comedy duo Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov said that in 2002, they were invited by the comedian to his hotel room for a nightcap after a show at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado. The women were under the impression that it would be cordial meeting.

The women said C.K. asked if he could expose himself. The women laughed it off as a joke.

“He proceeded to take all of his clothes off and get completely naked, and started masturbating,” Goodman told the publication.

The women told others about the incident and said the comedian’s manager was upset that they were discussing it publicly.

“I think the line gets crossed when you take all your clothes off and start masturbating,” Wolov said.

The duo are among five others who came forward to the publication with similar allegations.

Abby Schachner said that, while she was on a call with C.K. in 2003, she could hear the actor pleasuring himself.

Rebecca Corry said she was working with C.K. on a pilot in 2005 and said in a statement to the New York Times that the actor asked if he could pleasure himself in front of her. She turned him down.

“His face got red,” she said, “and he told me he had issues.”

Courtney Cox and David Arquette, who worked as an executive producer on the show, confirmed the incident.

“What happened to Rebecca on that set was awful,” Cox said in an email.

A fifth woman spoke on the condition of anonymity. The woman, who said she worked in production on “The Chris Rock Show” in the late 1990s, said that she was repeatedly asked by the C.K. to watch him pleasure himself. He was a writer and producer on the show at the time.

Ahead of the story’s publication, the New York premiere of Louis C.K.’s movie, “I Love You Daddy,” was canceled. Representatives for the premiere cited “unexpected circumstances,” according to The Hollywood Reporter

Schnase said that she got a Facebook message from C.K. in 2009 apologizing.

“Last time I talked to you ended in a sordid fashion,” he wrote, according to The Times. “That was a bad time in my life and I’m sorry.”

“I remember thinking what a repulsive person I was being by responding the way that I did,” he wrote.

Corry told The Times she received an email from C.K. in 2015 in which he said he owed her a “very very very late apology.”

Louis C.K was interviewed by The Times at the TorontoInternational Film Festival in Sept. 2016, where “I Love You, Daddy,” was being screened. According to the publication, he dismissed stories of his alleged sexual misconduct and referred to them as “rumors.”

“I’m not going to answer to that stuff, because they’re rumors,” C.K. said. “If you actually participate in a rumor, you make it bigger and you make it real,” he added.

“They’re rumors, that’s all that is,” he said.

Marvel’s “Black Panther” is already one of the highest-rated movies from the franchise.

With high praise from critics, the film is on track to set box office records. It’s only the third movie from director and screen writer Ryan Coogler.

Here are five things to know about the filmmaker behind the blockbuster:

He’s only 31 years old.

Coogler was born on May 23, 1986, in Oakland, California, and grew up reading about superheroes who looked nothing like him.

“As I got older, I wanted to find a comic book character that looked like me, and not just one that was on the sidelines,” Coogler told NPR. “And I walk in and ask the guy at the desk that day, and say, ‘Hey man, you got any comic books here about black people, you know, like with a black superhero?’ And he was like, ‘Oh, yeah, as a matter of fact, we got this one.’”

It was “Black Panther.”

A teacher inspired Coogler to become a screenwriter.

While on a football scholarship at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California, Coogler took a creative writing class.

According to Filmmaker Magazine, Coogler was given an assignment to write about a personal experience, so he wrote about the time his father almost bled to death in his arms.

Later, the professor called him into his office and asked what Coogler wanted to do with his life.

“Play ball, become a doctor and be a positive influence in my community,” he replied.

Coogler told the magazine he remembers her saying, “I think you should become a screenwriter. You can reach more people.” He thought she was crazy. “But I was always thinking about stories, so maybe there was something to it.”

His previous feature films are both critically acclaimed.

Coogler’s first feature film, “Fruitvale Station,” which stars Michael B. Jordan, was produced in partnership with Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker.

Coogler told Filmmaker Magazine in 2012 that the  film was especially close to his heart. It tells the true story of Oscar Grant, an unarmed man shot in the back by a police officer in Oakland, California.

The 2013 film holds a high 94 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and won multiple critics awards between 2013 and 2014.

Coogler’s second feature film, “Creed,” holds a 95 percent Rotten Tomatoes critics rating and earned numerous awards following its 2015 release. His memories of watching “Rocky” movies with his father inspired him to write the film.

All three of Coogler’s feature films star Michael B. Jordan.

“Fruitvale Station,” “Creed” and “Black Panther” all star Jordan. According to Variety, Jordan will star in a fourth Coogler film, titled “Wrong Answer.”

The fourth project will be written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, also the writer for the new “Black Panther” series, and produced by Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B. The film is based on a group of Atlanta high school teachers who participated in the Atlanta Public Schools standardized test cheating scandal in 2006.

He traveled to Africa to research “Black Panther.”

"What does it mean to be African?" Coogler asked himself. “It was a question I couldn’t answer,” he told NPR.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Coogler said he wanted to make sure Wakanda, the fictional setting of the film, didn’t feel like it was a city. It needed to feel like a country.

The fictional country was also inspired by several African landmarks, including South Africa’s Three Rondavels (or Three Sisters) and the canyon Orbi Gorge.

“As many pictures of it as you've seen," he added, "there's nothing a camera can do for (you that) your eyes do, or being a person of African descent, what your body does when you touch down there. It's a feeling I couldn't put into words, but I tried to put it into the movie,” he told the LA Times.

The filings do not indicate she has paid what she has owed since the Dec. 30 filing.

“He was the hero, he led the charge,” tattoo artist Sean Heirigs said. Heirigs was driving on the road when the crash occurred and told AP that the Ferrari appeared to lose control and go into oncoming traffic before it collided with the BMW and Wilson’s Toyota. Heirigs said that he told his 14-year-old daughter to call for help as he ran to try to assist the woman who had been driving the BMW, which had flipped onto its side.

“She’s crying, she’s screaming, she doesn’t really know what happened, and she was dangling into the passenger side,” Heirigs said. “Her leg was stuck.”

Heirigs said that he and Wilson were able to come up with a plan to get the woman out of the vehicle.

“We were able to get her leg out from being stuck and then she came out and Luke was pulling her through the back trunk area and then we both carried her to the curb,” Heirigs said. “And this was all going on while the Ferrari’s wheels are still spinning and blowing rubber and smoke everywhere, and it’s loud, and you’re smelling lots of smoke, and there’s glass.”

The woman was hospitalized with serious injuries. Wilson and Heirigs were unharmed.

Professional golfer Bill Haas was in the Ferrari at the time of the accident, according to police. The driver, 71-year-old Mark Gibello, was pronounced dead at the scene. Haas was treated for injuries at a nearby hospital. Haas’ manager, Allen Hobbs, told Golf Digest that Haas “escaped serious injuries and has been released from the hospital.”

He had pain and swelling in his legs, but no broken bones. Haas is reportedly returning to his South Carolina home to recover.

Police are reportedly investigating whether or not speed was a factor in the accident.
