Home improvement retailer Menards will build a new store in Fairborn next to the recently built Kroger Marketplace on Dayton-Yellow Springs Road.
The retailer will build a 173,000 square-foot retail store, a 27,000 square-foot garden and shipping area, and other amenities.
The Fairborn planning board approved preliminary plans for the store this week. An opening date is not yet announced.
The store is the first Greene County location for Menards.
“I’m energized as all signs point ahead for us,” said Tom O’Neil, Real Estate Representative with Menard-Inc., in a statement. “We will continue to work with staff as we come up with our final engineering plans to satisfy the conditions for staff approval.”
City council has focused attention on recruiting new businesses to the Interstate 675 corridor.
“Staff is doing a great job making people feel welcome to do business here,” said City Manager Rob Anderson in a statement. “We continue to generate a business friendly environment and help businesses through the process of coming to our city.”
