Three additional job fairs will be held in the Wayne County area to help pair jobs and training.

Throughout the afternoon hours Thursday, the first of four county job fairs was held in an effort to increase the unemployment rate. Compared to the current Indiana State unemployment rate of 8.0 percent, Wayne County is at 9.4 percent.

Mary Anne Butters, Wayne County Commissioner, developed a task force over a year ago with a focus on pairing the available jobs with training for those unemployed. The job fairs even have an area to obtain information for possible scholarships to receive training for those open jobs.

Butters says the three remaining County job fairs will be held on July 30 in Cambridge City; August 8 in Centerville; and August 13 in Hagerstown. All job fair times are 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. For specific locations and details for the remaining three events, go to http://waynecountyjobs.net/

Indiana state records show Wayne County’s average per year median income of $36,500, ranks last compared to other counties in the state.
